Costs

The cost  of an orthodontic treatment  depends on several factors, the main ones being:

• Complexity of the case;
• The age of the patient;
• The length of treatment
• The type of appliances used to make the corrections.

At your first visit , you will be given an estimation of the cost of the treatment  and can discuss it  with us. If you have dental insurance covering Orthodontic care you will be  given a form for your insurance compagnyi entitled "General Information Form Specialist in Orthodontics" approved by the Canadian Association of Orthodontists.

Financing Options

It is with pleasure that we will review with you the various financing options we offer to accommodate your budget. Please note that we give a reduction courtesy to families who have several children  treatment, and patients who want to make a total payment of treatment .

The fees  for orthodontic treatment  do not include cleanings, extractions, fillings, surgeries , Care of the gums (periodontal) articular therapy (unless otherwise specified) and any restorative treatment  necessary during or after the treatment . The cost of treatment  includes monitoring which will vary depending on individual characteristics of the treated malocclusion.

Insurance for Orthodontics  is often a distinct benefit within a dental insurance policy. The coverage for  orthodontics are usually of the order of 50%.
To determine the benefits to which you are entitled, it is suggested to call the insurance company or talk to the administrator of your insurance plan where you work and ask the following questions:

1. Does my plan covers orthodontic treatment  ( braces )?
2. If yes, at what percentage?
3. Are there are limits to this coverage (such as age, a maximum allocation etc..)?

Once you have determined that you are insured for orthodontics, you need to make financial arrangements with your orthodontist .The arrangements will have to be described in the General Information Form Specialist in Orthodontics as approved by the Canadian Association of Orthodontists. Please send this form as soon as possible to your insurance company. Your insurer will let you know himself the benefits you are entitled to. When you make a payment to our office orthodontist , You will receive a receipt that you will attach to one of your dental claim forms (to be completed by the insured himself). You submit it to your insurer who will reimburse you directly.

Remember that:

1. Orthodontists do not accept payment directly from insurance companies.
2. It is not necessary that a full orthodontist Dental Claim Form since there are no codes of dental procedures required for orthodontic care provided.
3. Only one  standard information for certified specialists in orthodontics form is needed to determine the benefits. Once these benefits are recognized and approved, no other form of insurance is required by your orthodontist's office.

Insurance Directives The Canadian Association of Orthodontists (for the patient)

The following are guidelines to help patients obtain advance confirmation orthodontic services  Insured:

1. COMPLETE the "Patient Identification" section appearing on the Form General Information Specialist in Orthodontics you submit your orthodontist.
2. ATTACH the white copy of Form General Information Specialist in Orthodontics . Submit it to your insurer.

Your insurer will notify you directly, in writing, of the amount and extent of services provided. If you do not have any news after 2-3 weeks, it is suggested to call.

Submitting a claim

The following guidelines apply to examinations, diagnostic equipment and taking active treatment.

Expenses during a active treatment 
The reception of your orthodontist  will give you a receipt when you make any payment . Attach the receipt to a Dental Claim Form and submit it to your insurer.
 

Your insurance coverage and benefits you are entitled to have previously been determined. Therefore, your orthodontist's office does not have to provide insurance forms at this stage it, they only must provide receipts. There is therefore no need that your orthodontist to provide a standard information form during your monthly or quarterly payments once your insurer has approved the treatment plan. The receipt attached to your dental claim form is sufficient proof of the continuation of treatment. It is recommended that the insured retains a copy of all receipts submitted to the insurer. And any unpaid portion may be claimed as a medical deduction on your tax return.

Coordination of benefits
If two parents have a different insurance plans covering the same person ( the child), the subscriber whose date of birth is earlier in the year (ie  January versus August) is considered as the first or principal underwriter. The lead underwriter thus determined must send the forms discussed above to his insurer. Subsequently, the response of the first insurer is sent  to the second insurer for an assesment of coverage by the second insurance plan.
